Apply to film

If you are planning commercial filming or photography activities (for broadcast/public viewing) film on North Somerset Council owned land, you will require a filming permit. You can apply using our online permitting system.

Filming for public service news items does not require a permit, with the exception of drone filming. If you are a journalist looking to film for news, contact North Somerset Council’s communications team at communications@n-somerset.gov.uk for more information.

Drones can capture the perfect shot of areas of North Somerset, but this must be done safely so please read our guidance.

North Somerset has on-street parking available for filming and our parking team can offer sections of car parks or land for use as large unit bases.

Productions can apply for road or footpath closures, temporary traffic lights, or stop and go boards to ensure that filming takes place safely.

We welcome the next generation of talented filmmakers to join us as part of their studies. You will find some guidance on how to safely film and request a permit.

We welcome still photographers to capture out exterior locations, however for commercial purposes please reach out to confirm if a permission is required.

We strive to accommodate reasonable requests we receive, such as location preparation, or opening our buildings for filming. Please make an enquiry and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
